So, last Tuesday (it's been exactly a week!) I got my driver's license (FINALLY!)
I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!
you have no idea! Except, I don't get a car! :(
BUT! I get to drive my mother's all summer long, and don't have to spend a penny on gas!
You may be thinking, "Geeze, you're going to be 17, like soon." (In August to be exact). And here's what I say to that:
MY MOTHER was supposed to sign me up for driver's ed LAST JULY. A month before I turned 16, you so everything could be honky dory, and everyone would be happy.
She never did.
STORY OF MY LIFE!
So, as one of the few people in my grade (and one of three friends who didn't get their driver's license until recently...I was the last out of all of us) I had to catch rides places (or even better, have my parents drop me off) and wait until this Spring to take driver's ed.
Driver's ed is a whole other story within itself. The class was made up of mostly freshman, a handful of sophomores, and TWO (count with me here, ONE, TWO) juniors.
Fail.
But, I had my friend Sarah, and her friend Mackenzie in there with me, so the class was actually quite amusing. I had Mr. Brown, and if you have ever had him as a driver's ed teacher, you'll know what I mean when I say that I got a kick out of the lessons.
BUT! Alas, Sarah and Mackenzie were driving partners, and I was driving partner-less. But, luckily, God shone a light on me, and Alexa, a girl who goes to Lisbon, and could only drive weekends (which was basically the only days I could drive...all together with me now: "HALLELUJAH!") so we were partners. The bonus was that she wasn't that shabby of a driver, and she was nice and funny, so we got along well:)
SO NOW! I've had my license for a week. I got the car Friday night, and got to drive and jam out and have fun on my way to work, and then hanging out with friends afterwards. It was quite exciting. No seriously, I was so excited, you have NO idea. Seriously.
I've only had two incidents, and I'm not even sure about the second one...
1. Woops...Friday night I forgot to turn on my lights as I was leaving Culver's. But thankfully, my friends, Tyler and Austin, were right ahead of me, and pulled over to tell me to turn them on. Thanks guys:)
2. And I think I MIGHT have cut off a guy going down Collins. I saw the car coming, but he wasn't even close to the intersection, and when I looked in my rear-veiw mirror, he was on my tail. But, looking back on it now, I think that guy MIGHT have been in the turning lane behind me. Jerk.
Anyways! I'm super excited, and guess what! I've been told I'm a good driver. Obviously, not the most awesomest driver to walk the Earth, but still.
:)
